Barley news World: Export perspectives for barley are comparatively favourable, forecasts rank to 5.1-5.2 million t

Barley export perspectives are quite favorable. Barley production forecasts for EU and Australia have been substantially decreased amid drought, UkrAgroConsult released in its Grain Market report of August 24.

Black Sea region could remain the biggest barley supplier in the 2006/07 MY. UkrAgroConsult forecasts increase in prices for Black Sea barley from US$115-118/t FOB in the nearest future.

The price rise allows increasing barley export forecast from 5.1 to 5.2 million t. Further demand for barley could be possibly generated by increase in corn prices in EU.

In spite of record crop in 2006 Ukrainian prices for barley remain stable. It confirms low level of farmers’ barley sales, while large export contracts were made for September – November.
